What a Complete Sitework Estimate Covers

Every full bid estimating package is built line by line, the way a contractor builds one for their own money. A complete bid typically covers:

Sheet 03 · Why Us

Estimates From Someone Who's Actually Run the Work

Most estimating firms have never loaded a truck, shot grade at 4 AM, run iron in sub-zero temps adjusting execution as they go, or ground it out at 115 degrees knowing their men and what the work needs. And they have never eaten a bid that missed the over-ex. Earthworks NV was founded by the owner of a licensed heavy civil contractor who came up through the trades: field, office, company operator. There is a significant difference between counting quantities in an office and understanding a job from actually being in it. No offshore takeoffs, no “we use market rates in your area” database pricing. Every number comes from a career spent executing the work, all of it in the United States. None of this was learned in a classroom. We learned it in the field, day after day: what it actually takes to get a job done, what to look out for, and how to see problems before they happen.

Quantities tell you what's on the plans. A full bid tells you what it takes to build it, and what it'll cost you if you miss it.

Sheet 08 · FAQ

Sitework Estimating, Answered Straight

What is a full bid estimating service?

It's the whole bid, not just quantities. We do the takeoff, price every line item with real production rates and current material and trucking costs, write your scope letter with inclusions and exclusions, and fill out the bid form. Quantity services hand you numbers; a full bid estimating service hands you a bid you can submit.

How are you different from the offshore takeoff services?

Most estimating services are offshore takeoff mills pricing from generic “market rates in your area” databases. They can count what's on the plans but have never priced a job, run a crew, or eaten a bad bid. Earthworks NV is 100% US-based and US-born, run by an American heavy civil contractor with 18+ years in the industry, from laborer to owner of a licensed Nevada grading and paving company. Every number reflects real production rates, equipment logic, phasing, and the risks that only show up when you've actually built the work.

What trades and scopes do you estimate?

Mass grading and excavation, cut/fill and over-excavation, demolition, asphalt paving (new construction, mill & overlay, R&R), aggregate base, wet and dry utilities, erosion control and SWPPP, retaining and screen walls, and complete sitework packages for commercial, industrial, and public works projects.

How fast is your turnaround?

Full bid packages deliver in 3–5 business days and standalone quantity work in 2–3, depending on size and document quality. Rush turnaround is available for hard bid deadlines. Give us your bid date and we work backward from it.

Do you only work with Nevada contractors?

No. We're based in Nevada and know the Nevada and Utah markets street by street, but estimating is done remotely from your plans and specs. We serve sitework contractors nationwide.

What do you need from me to start?

The plan set (civil sheets at minimum), the geotech report if you have it, the bid form or schedule of values, and your bid date. Structural, landscape & architectural sheets and site photos help us see the whole job. More is better. Upload it all through the secure file link below. We confirm cost with you before any work starts.

You're a contractor too. Will you estimate a job you're bidding?

No. We strictly avoid taking estimating work on projects we're actively bidding ourselves, and your plans stay confidential, and we're always prepared to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. Your bid is your bid; our only job is helping you win it.

How much does a sitework estimate cost?

Cost depends on the scope and complexity of the project. Send your plans and we'll review the project and provide a quote before any work starts.
